Services for Students with Disabilities The Services for Students with Disabilities program addresses the needs of a diverse population and provides special assistance, accommodations, and appropriate services/programs to ensure accessibility and to meet the needs of individuals with documented disabilities.

The primary purpose of the program is to instill a sense of self-advocacy in students with disabilities and to provide auxiliary aids in an effort to ensure full participation in all university activities and programs.

The program offers academic support services which cannot be developed or adequately provided by other campus departments. Such academic support services include, but are not limited to, tutorial services, enlarge printed materials, test proctoring and specialized computerized equipment.

Students with disabilities are encouraged to contact the Services for Students with Disabilities Office (Ext: 5335) upon admission to the university and to provide official documentation regarding the nature of their disability. All information received is confidential and released with the written consent of the student, except in emergency cases.

Instruction Strategy for the Course

I will generally give a Discussion Question (DQ) each week on the chapter material assigned for reading shown on the Class Schedule described below. DQ are designed to stimulate discussion and explain the principles, concepts and mechanics of the fundamental issues.

Written and reading assignments are designed to prepare you for class and exams. Reading assignments must be completed prior to each class in order to facilitate intelligent discussions.

The Professor may identify extra readings that are relevant to the course material. Classroom participation is an essential element of instructional method and is important to your development in this course (30% of grade). I therefore solicit and encourage your participation in the classroom discussions.

Students will be required to submit a written paper in week 4 regarding The Relationship Between Law and Society. This will be in the form of a MS Word Document using APA style, approximately 2 pages in length, not including the required Title Page and Reference Page.

The student will discuss the origins of law in society, the theories and principles on which law is based and how law serves the interests of society. The Relationship Between Law and Society paper will be 10% of the semester grade.
