It is the assurance that auditors provide that give investors confidence in the markets. The audit report, part of the financial statements are what assure the investing public that financial statements are prepared and present financial results according to accepted accounting standards (GAAP or IFRS).
- Select a company, locate an annual report and discuss the specific elements of the audit report.
- Was the opinion positive or negative? Try to locate and share reports that had both positive and negative opinions.
- Discuss the reasons for the negative opinions provided. Do not forget to provide your sources always.
