Review the relational dialectics

Assignment task:

Read the "Relational Dialectics" section from Chapter 9: Interpersonal Communication in Survey of Communication Study (found in the "Module 4" folder in the Course Resource List):

Using the concept of Relational Dialectics, analyze (describe) the dialectical needs in one of your close relationships (e.g., parent/child, sibling, friendship, or a romantic relationship). You can discuss all three of the dialectics in this relationship (autonomy/connection, novelty/predictability, and openness/closedness), or only the one(s) that reflect your relationship.

Next, describe how you might use each of the four strategies (neutralize, separate, segment, or reframe) to better manage the dialectical need. In other words, give an example of what all four strategies would look like in your relationship as well as how the strategy would help manage the dialectic(s) you chose.
