Problem: Select a problem in society at a local, national, or global level. Imagine that you have the opportunity to explain this problem through an essay and multimedia presentation to a person or organization who has the ability to help make a difference. Your goal is to explain your chosen societal issue in order to persuade the person or group to make a change.
You will imagine that you have the opportunity to give your multimedia presentation to whatever group or person you want, depending on the scope of the issue you've chosen. For example, your audience could be the Environmental Protection Agency if your topic is related to the environment, or it could be a specific business if you're addressing their contribution to environmental damage on a local, national, or global level. Your audience might be local or state police if your topic is related to concerns about crime. You can even imagine that your audience is your town's mayor or city council if you want to address and gather research about something that could improve your local economy, culture, or social situation.
Your written assessment will include two important items to submit:
- A minimum two-page research paper including APA citations that will act as the voiceover script for your multimedia presentation so that your instructor can read and follow along with the essay during and after your multimedia presentation, and
- An annotated bibliography at the end of your essay that includes a minimum of three sources, including the following:
- Two scholarly journal articles and
- One other reliable source.
