Assignment Instructions:
1. Choose one theoretical comparison from page two.
2. Research both theories using a general Library and Learning Commons (LLC) search, Google Scholar and Academic Search Complete (using the LLC databases).
3. Identify similarities and differences: Analyze the theories you have researched and identify similarities and differences between them. Note key concepts, assumptions, and the developmental stages that are emphasized in each theory.
4. Develop an outline: Create an outline that reflects the similarities and differences you have identified. The outline should include an introduction, a thesis statement, a body section, and a conclusion.
5. Write your paper:
- Begin by writing an introduction (one paragraph only) that provides a brief background on the theories you have chosen and the purpose of the paper. Provide a thesis statement that lets the reader know what you will discuss in the paper.
- Develop the body of the paper by discussing the similarities and differences between the theories. Use examples from the research you conducted to support your arguments.
- After the body of your paper, reflect in one paragraph on the following questions: Which of the two theories could inform your practice (career you are studying for)? Why does the theory or theories work well in practice? Be specific.
- End with a conclusion that summarizes the main points of your paper and highlights the significance of your findings.
- NOTE: In APA 7th edition style there are no headings for introduction and conclusion. However, you will need a page two title.
- Edit and revise: Once you have written your paper, revise it carefully to ensure that it is well-structured, coherent, and well-supported. Check for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors. Also, ensure that your paper meets the requirements of the assignment.
- Final review: Finally, review your paper one more time to ensure that it meets all the requirements of the assignment and that it is well-written and organized.
