Problem:
The best place to begin in order to understand conflict is with yourself. This assignment requires you to describe and analyze a personal conflict situation that you were a party in. In the process of completing it, you may discover some things about how you handle conflict that will serve you well in terms of both personal and professional realms.
In order for this to happen, however, you must devote some time and thoughts to this assignment. Search your memory to fill in any blanks that you encounter. You may even be able to consult with others who were present to get more details.
Don't forget, the purpose of these assignments is for your instructor to evaluate your understanding of the course content. Make sure you are referring to the content of Module 1 in your submission.
Note: Remember that the only recognizable name in this assignment should be yours. Your information will remain confidential. Only you and the instructor will see this assignment.
The following sections are required:
Cover Page - use format from APA Style Guide example on p. 4
Introduction (to format headings throughout your paper, see p. 15 of APA Style Guide)
You are expected to include an introduction which starts with our course definition of conflict. This is also where you will indicate what you are going to talk about; hence, providing a road-map of your paper to the reader. There are resources online which can help with how to write an introduction and you can also access our Learning Cafe online resources
(Now on to the body of the paper, which will have the following sections)
Part A: Description
Choose an example of a conflict from your life (preferably a situation in which you were directly involved). Note that the situation may have been resolved either negatively or positively, or may still be unresolved.
Describe the conflict in detail, including who was involved, what was said, and what actions took place. Note that other than your own name, you should use fictional names or "Person A", "Person B", etc., to refer to others in the situation. You will also want to include the emotions that were present as you felt them or observed them from the other person(s). Need Assignment Help?
Describe what you have determined was the root cause of the conflict (refer to course content here on root causes).
Describe the outcome of the conflict (again, refer to course content here related to outcomes or consequences of conflict).
Remember...you are not justifying your position or actions here. This is a simple and objective description of what transpired.
Part B: Analysis
Was the outcome of this conflict situation the best solution?
Were other outcomes possible for this conflict? What could they have been? Would they have been better or worse?
What obstacles needed to be overcome before a solution was possible?
Part C: Assessment
Address the following question:
What have you learned about conflict and yourself from doing this assignment? You must make specific reference to the various concepts you have learned in the content of the first module in your answer.
Conclusion
Add in a conclusion which summarizes all of the main points of your paper. As noted above, visit the Learning Cafe resources link if you are not familiar with constructing a conclusion.
