Problem: "The number of hospital admissions related to sepsis has increased three-fold over the last decade" (Surviving Sepsis Campaign, 2019). Nurses are a vital part of increasing the chances of a patient's survival of sepsis and septic shock. Nurses must identify the signs and symptoms, and communicate with the physicians immediately. This will allow the interdisciplinary team to aggressively treat the source of the infection. This will assist in restoring tissue perfusion (Hinkle, 2021).
