OVERVIEW
This assignment allows the student to select between two options. The first option is a movie analysis. The second option is a research paper focused on conflict and the Christian leader. The purpose of this assignment is to allow the student to apply concepts taught in the course with regards to change, power, and conflict dynamics. Detailed instructions for completing each option is found below.
INSTRUCTIONS: MOVIE ANALYSIS OPTION
You are to rent or purchase the film October Sky. After viewing the movie, you are to complete an analysis of the film. The analysis must focus on change, power, conflict, leadership, and influence issues in examples from the film. The film should be used to illustrate the concepts learned in the course. The analysis must be 1,250 to 1,750 words in length, must be written to meet APA professional style standards, and must include four (4) citations in addition to course texts and videos.
In preparing your review, please provide a summary of the plot of the film and its leading characters. After you have summarized the movie, consider the following questions as you write your film analysis. You do not have to answer them all. They are intended to stimulate your thinking only.
• What significant change(s) occurred in the film?
• How was the experience of change received by various persons or groups in the film?
• What "power struggles" were evident in the film?
• What conflicts arose due to change?
• What conflicts arose due to power struggles?
• What leadership roles were played by the characters in this film?
• Was leadership every surrendered, taken, or shared?
• What power bases (French and Raven) were present in the film? Illustrate these from the movie.
• What leadership role did Miss Riley play in this film?
• How did her role change throughout the film?
• What motivation methods did she employ to keep this team moving forward?
• What principles of leadership can you draw from this film?

A movie analysis must meet the following requirements to be considered as an Advanced level submission.
• The analysis must be 1,250 to 1,750 words in length.
• The analysis must interact with content from the course textbooks, plus it must cite at least four additional sources outside of the textbooks and course materials.
• The analysis must demonstrate advanced ability to synthesize ideas, conduct concept analysis, and evidence original thought.
• The analysis must demonstrate an advanced understanding of the course's issues and focus on change, power, conflict, leadership, and influence dynamics.
• The analysis must provide a biblical perspective.
• The analysis must provide meaningful examples from the film. Examples used must articulate a strong justification by connecting the example to relevant course material.
• The analysis must meet the current APA style requirements using the professional paper template.
• The analysis must be free of glaring errors in grammar, spelling, and formatting.
• The analysis must align with the instructions provided in this document.
• The analysis must be exemplary, meaning it could be used as an example document for future students.
INSTRUCTIONS: RESEARCH PAPER OPTION
The student will write an academic research paper on the topic of the Christian leader and conflict. This paper will consist of an analysis and synthesis of research on the subject. The paper must also include a biblical and theological perspective related to conflict management and resolution. Your paper must be a minimum of 1,250 to 1,750 words and follow the current APA style guide. It must include a minimum of 10 scholarly references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible.
Your paper should deal with the following content areas and include these headings. Create subheadings as needed.
• Sources of Conflict in Christian Leadership
• Stages of Conflict
• Styles of Conflict Response
• Scriptural Principles for Conflict Resolution
A research paper must meet the following requirements to be considered as an Advanced level submission.
