1) Make an arguments about a sufficiently narrow issue that effects TCC students;

2) present your new media composition; and

3) write a Rhetorical Response that analyzes the rhetorical choices you made and conveys your understanding of the rhetorical situation.

You'll be creating a multimedia composition using PowerPoint (five to eight slides), iMovie, MovieMaker (45 seconds-1 minute at least but no longer than two minutes), Prezi or some other format; you'll need to convey the controlling idea into the new medium. You should incorporate visuals along with text and/or sound for your composition.

The purpose is to turn a textual essay into a visual medium that conveys the controlling idea of your topic. You'll want to consider which images, and, if applicable, sounds can get across the main idea without large portions of text to demonstrate it.

You may use original images or images found online; both must be properly cited in your credit. You'll want to think about order, mood, and effects (texture, designs, fonts, etc.).

Rhetorical Response: To accompany your multimedia composition and presentation, you'll submit a rhetorical response in which you explain how created a visual essay and what you learned in the process.

Specifically, you'll want to accomplish three things in your RR:

1) remind readers of the context and give an overview of the argument;

2) explain in detail the choices you made in turning this into a visual essay for your classmates;

3) describe what you learned about the rhetorical situation (issues of audience-including location, form, visual appeals, etc., as we'll discuss in class) and new media from making these changes.

4) At least 500 words. One paper per group. Topic: Lack of Safety Procedures in Colleges
