For over two decades Matchmaker Transportation has fulfilled its clients' needs with experience, integrity, reliability, and professionalism. These key traits are the very cornerstones that Jim Skane, Sr. began the company with in 1981. They are also the keys Matchmaker has carried over the years as their clients have continually received the same quality service as they did in the past.  Successful businesses today can no longer assume that good basic service is enough.  To continually dominate the market companies must believe in continuous improvement, always trying to be forward thinking, asking daily how to get better and then doing something about it.

Matchmaker Transportation is in the business of finding the best transportation solutions for their customers based on each customer’s particular needs.  To accomplish this Matchmaker must understand the shipping customer’s challenges and use creative solutions to provide value.  Matchmaker must also understand their carrier customers’ capabilities.  Finally, Matchmaker must proved employee customers with excellent training, state of the art tools, and proper incentive to exceed the customers’ expectations.

As Matchmaker Transportation grows, it is dividing into divisions.  Already established is a van division which includes dry vans and refrigerated vehicles and has an eight member team made up of a team leader, two dispatchers, two shipper sales representatives and three carrier coordinators.  Matchmaker also has an established flatbed division made up currently of two shipper sales representatives, one dispatcher and two carrier coordinators.  This division needs to a staff of one more dispatcher and another carrier coordinator.
Matchmaker plans on adding a third division, separating the refrigerated vans from the dry van division.  This team will need to be staffed with one team leader, two shipper sales representatives, one dispatcher and two carrier coordinators.  In addition one more administrative employee will be needed in order for Matchmaker to continue to meet the insurance compliance issues of new carriers.

RECURITMENT:

The Human Resource Manager of Matchmaker Transportation must recruit to fill five operational positions, two sales positions and one administrative position.  Prior to recruitment and selection, the Human Resources Department (HRD) must identify all the requirements for the job and be able to prepare a criterion for interviewing candidates.  HRD is responsible for job design or defining the sets of tasks or responsibilities of the job.  By doing so, it provides a full understanding of what the job entails.
