Providing employees with computer access is one of the perks offered by your business. Employees enjoy checking their personal email and surfing the Internet on their breaks. So far, computer access has been a cherished employee benefit. When you came into work this morning you found the following anonymous letter from one of your employees on your desk. “I received a highly inappropriate joke from a fellow employee that I found extremely offensive. The employee who sent the joke was Debbie Fernandez and I believe she should be reprimanded for her inappropriate actions. Signed—a disturbed employee.” What would you do? What could you have done to ensure situations such as these would be easily handled if they did arise? What could you do to ensure such situations do not happen in the future and if they do all employees are aware of the ramifications of inappropriate emails?
