q corrosion in boilerwith proper bfw treatment

Q. Corrosion in Boiler?

With proper BFW treatment, and maintaining pH within a certain range (9.2 to 9.4) and removing oxygen from the system, a stable passive film will be formed which prevents corrosion in boiler.

High quality BFW is required to minimize solids deposition in the boiler tubers. The TDS should be controlled by optimizing the water treatment equipment.Chelant injection, oxygen scavenger, neutralizing amine injection and water softening and filtration are considered as mandatory boiler water treatments which prevent corrosion in boiler.

High temperature oxidation of boiler tubes in radiant section can be prevented by upgrading the metallurgy. Also internal and external metal skin temperatures and flue gas temperatures shall be closely monitored to prevent overheating.

Filming amine shall be injected at a constant rate downstream of HP Steam Separator to prevent corrosion in the pipeline by inhibiting the formation of carbonic acid and forming a thin, impermeable barrier on the inner surface of the pipeline.
