In recent years, outsourcing of non-core functions to outside vendors has been a trend among organization. The purchasing or licensing the software or hardware in place of leasing/outsourcing them is good idea. By doing purchase, the hardware or software becomes the permanent property of the company or person. Leasing is good when you require the product for a small period of time but if you need that product for long time, leasing is not good idea. Non-core functions are outsourced by the business as the third party vendor may be more cost effective and more efficient than the business- Whenever a business is outsources, it may be possible that external vendors are not concerned to customer information and security as a business might do. The business which outsources its task has spent effort and time in cultivating and then forging relationship with its customers. Treating customers well is the best interest to company but outside vendors does not have such bonds. When the work is contracted to the third party then the security breaches can occur. The security plan must be developed by companies which require safeguards on the part of outside vendors (Barritz, et al., 2005).
The priority can change as per the requirement of user or organization. Security is also main concern about leasing or purchasing application or hardware. The cost of application is also a point considered while leasing or purchasing the application if the product is under cost, then, purchasing is a good idea. If the user or organization requires the application or hardware for long time and the application will keep critical data, then, in that case, my priority is to purchase the required application or hardware in place of taking it on lease. This will secure my data from any third party vender.
Vendor managers and Governance are the roles that are needed and are responsible to assure that outsourced functions and third-party suppliers operates within the compliance and follows policies and the standards. There must be good and healthy communication between the liaison officer and supplier or vendor. They must know the requirements of each other so that the requirements can be fulfilled in an effective manner. The vendor and liaison officer collaborate for the successful development of the project. Conferencing software is used for enabling the users to share their documents via online meetings or communicate with other connected members. The screen sharing for collaboration will helps in demonstrating software app or showing web page to participants in real time (Barritz, 2007).
