Assignment task:
Purpose: The purpose of this 3-4 minute introduction speech is to give you an opportunity to start speaking in public and gives your classmates an opportunity to learn a little bit about you. You will select a bag that represents your personality and fill the bag with 3 objects that are meaningful to you. I encourage you to use items other than your phone or computer. You will explain to the class why you chose your bag in the Introduction, identify each object in the bag, and explain why that object is meaningful for you.
Assignment: You will outline for your speech and post it on the discussion board. Please see the sample introduction outline attached below or refer to the sample outlines in your textbook. Be sure to look over the grading rubric ahead of time so that you understand what is expected. Do NOT write out your speech word for word (all speeches are extemporaneous), only use short phrases; your outline should fit on 1 page. Be sure to follow the proper formatting for your outline (as shown below), there should not be bullets, dashes, the more organized your outline is...the better your speech will be!

Preview the purpose statement and main points
