Marcia's Dilemma:

Marcia's teacher often uses cooperative learning groups in his classroom to promote achievement and cooperation. Marcia is in a group of six members. However, Marcia is the only one completing the benchmark assignments, and generally, the group feels there is no need to complete assignments because their work is never graded. Additionally, their teacher uses lectures. However, his lecture slides are cumbersome, and he reads all the information on the slides word for word when he teaches. He expects his students to take copious notes. Predictably, many students do poorly on exams. Also, the students think the exams are too complicated, and they do not believe they have the required knowledge to complete them. Marcia is one of the struggling students. Grades are important to her. She has been on the honor roll every grading period. Currently, she's struggling to believe that she can understand the material and do well in class.
