Problem related to rules of social engagement

Assignment task:

Sociologists often use metaphors to describe the various social dynamics that they study. When we think of the how we learn and perform the "rules of social engagement" some have used the act of fishing as a metaphorical illustration [38]. One of the sociologists who examined the way the most basic rules of social interaction are performed and negotiated was Harold Garfinkel. He had various ways to demonstrate the importance of micro sociological rules [39]. When we join groups there are various ways in which they deliberately seek to gain our compliance, conformity, and loyalty. Many students, when arriving at a university, seek out opportunities for organized patterns of socializing. One option is to join Greek life and a fraternity or sorority. One of the most notorious practices, particularly of fraternities, is the act of "hazing", something sociologists have studied in a variety of settings [40]. Clearly Greek organizations depend on various forms of what we call "peer pressure". In the case of hazing this might be viewed negatively, but such pressure can also produce more positive consequences [41].
