Assignment Task: Imagine you are the new marketing manager for a local retailer, small business or nonprofit organization. The company is relatively new and needs to build awareness and customer base (or donors if you select a nonprofit organization).

For this critical thinking assignment, you will create a social media marketing campaign to present to the owners/leaders of the organization.  Using PowerPoint, include the following slides with speaker notes for your presentation:

Provide a brief company background that includes the company's value proposition (i.e., a statement that explains why a consumer/donor would choose to buy/give from this organization).

Articulate the objective (or reasons) for the social media marketing campaign using the goals stated above.

Determine the most effective social networking sites that you will use and explain why and what is your primary strategy for social media (see Chapter 9: Social Media Marketing Strategies)?

Design a mock up ad for posting on one of your chosen social media sites mentioned above.

How will you integrate one alternative marketing activities, such as buzz and experiential marketing (see Chapter 10).

Summarize to ownership/leaders why you feel this will be an effective plan to meet the goals of building awareness and customer/donor base.

Presentation must be at least 5 slides (does not include the title, conclusion or reference slides). The slides should use informative graphics. In developing the campaign, be sure to provide rationale in your speaker notes. Include at least 2 scholarly or industry-specific references.
