Career readiness is a combination of aspects that promote professional development, success, and advancement in an evolving work environment. High level skills, competencies, ambition, and the ability to set and work toward achievable goals are all key factors to one's career readiness. Career readiness allows an employee or manager to move forward in their career with confidence, skills, and knowledge that is modern and relevant to their field of work (Uhl-Bien, et al., 2021). One of the challenges of career readiness is maintaining up to date knowledge that is professionally relevant. With the rapid advancement of technology managers need to avoid complacency and continue to learn and grow as technology changes. As we enter the fourth industrial age, the use of mobile internet, cloud technology, and AI is becoming more and more common and keeping up with current knowledge of technology and the skills to properly utilize it is a skill that is key to success (Uhl-Bien, et al., 2021). Another challenge of career readiness is to have a good understanding of one's own strengths and weaknesses and to continuously evaluate how to improve. Regularly conducting a personal SWOT analysis can help make sure that individuals are aware of their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and competitive career threats (Uhl-Bien, et al., 2021). Self awareness can be difficult, but it is crucial to career readiness and success in a managerial position. One more challenge is the increasing push for high ethical standards and socially responsible business practices. Enforcing a high standard can be challenging, but it is extremely important as society's expectations for organizations are increasingly high (Uhl-Bien, et al., 2021). Meeting that societal expectation is important to success from a managerial standpoint and from an organizational standpoint. A manager who maintains good career readiness and promotes career readiness within their organization is much more likely to create an environment of positive coordination and cooperation. Promoting career readiness also contributes to more advanced knowledge, skills, and better efficiency amongst the people within an organization. Ignoring career readiness as a manage can make a person ill-fitted for the position and negatively impact their working relationships and production.
