Problem based on corporate values

Problem:

Pharmaz is a multinational pharmaceutical company, whose headquarters is located in Denmark. Pharmaz is a value driven and innovative company where 6000 people are working in 30 countries. But pharmaz HQ and Pharmaz India have opposing corporate values due to cultural and institutional differences .first the main issues raised in this case includes independency of employees ,interdepartmental misunderstanding ,caste system as well as traditional values of Indians, and different perspectives in communications.  HQ value of 'empowering employees' seems to be raising some major issues. Top management argue that it is imperative that every employee is capable to making independent decisions. Naturally, the executives expect assertive and commanding staff but not everybody in a subsidiary of Pharmaz like the Indian is able to lead own projects cause of their education.(dowling, festing &Engle 2013). Conflicts can be seen Between Balwinder and Shankar and other team members due to power distance and caste system .AS Shankar comes from Brahmin family which is considered highest ranking caste in India, and he never eats his lunch with others. Moreover there is is also lack of communication among employees, they never like to share their knowledge with others. Pharmaz India depicts high uncertainty avoidance because workers are more traditional and they have strong beliefs and values regarding work, whereas Pharmaz HQ is lax. For example, Niels wore casual clothing for meeting ,whereas the Amrita wore her traditional dress sari. Amrita is expected to delegate workplace, but contrarily HQ wants her to "empower workers to be independent. Niels' way of communication seems to Amrita as strict, demanding and challenging. Nevertheless ,Amrita is collecting inspiration for further work ,however he expects an exchange of ideas and likes Amrita to be open minded. A conflict of interest arises between employees when the HQ intends to implement their own structure without any adjustments, thereby ignoring the Indian culture and workplace context. This move ultimately affects the general performance of the company. Hofstede cultural differences framework is used to analysis the differences between two cultures. ON the other hand, in terms of institutional context, Pharmaz India is a male dominated workplace and Amrita was the only woman whose working there and found difficult to receive honor from her peers. Pharmaz HQ ensures that workers should have " advantageous working conditions", competitive wages and work life balance with shorter working days to accommodate workers. Amrita finds that the corporate values are in line with her own ideas of what management ought to be, but it is difficult to implement in an Indian context.
