"Hello class,

Contemporary public administration does not only need legal legitimacy, but the legitimacy needs to be adaptable to challenges such as political division, digitalization and increased social demands. Legitimacy involves transparency, inclusiveness and effectiveness where public administrators must act accordingly to this to get the trust of the public. For instance, adaptive governance can be implemented through adaptive policies to ensure governance is in accordance with community needs and wants as explored in materials from the course. Reference Frank Hendriks explains through the integrative values framework that incorporating diverse competing or complimentary values is essential for the innovation of democratic governance (Hendriks, 2022). By considering above aspects, public administration can uphold legitimacy. Doing so does not only ensure that today's challenges are addressed, but also guarantees that governance capacity gets adapted with changing public demands which further improves the public administration-visual relationship through trust engagement.

Another prominent issue affecting accountability in the digital world is the rapid evolution of social media channels. The digital workplace is characterized by speed and immediacy, which threatens accountability when appropriate documentation or archiving protocols are lacking. Posts on X and TikTok are ephemeral and created in a casual setting, which poses a challenge to accountability measures whose standards are traditionally applied to more permanent communications. Strong digital communication policies and training can mitigate the above challenges, says Elin K. Funck and Tom S. Karlsson. They assert that policy implementing actors must be committed to their intentions and balance perspectives to sustain outside confidence (Funck & Karlsson, 2020). Using the above mentioned policies, public administrators can ensure that digital communications follow transparency and accountability mechanisms, hence sustaining the confidence of the public.

The practice of public administration seeks to achieve efficiency as well as democratic values, which includes a nuanced consideration of the "Three E's" (efficiency, economy, effectiveness) and "Three R's" (responsiveness, responsibility, representation). An administrator strives to ensure that equity and representation are not sacrificed to secure the most efficient outcome. Making use of a wide variety of participatory mechanisms, such as community forums and surveys, is an important way to support the principle of inclusion. Hendriks' integrative framework promotes public engagement and supports the idea of making the suite of values available to each member of the decision-making process (Hendriks, 2022). Such participatory mechanisms strengthen the foundations of democratic governance by ensuring that those voices most underserved and over-impacted by the achieved efficiency are acknowledged and considered.

To summarize, legitimacy of public service translates into its ability to adapt, accountability in the digital age means safeguarding data, and efficiency must contend with democratic principles. All of the mentioned concepts are not purely theoretical, but immediate and relevant to the pursuit of a public administration career aimed at serving the public while keeping their trust and values intact. I leave my colleagues with the idea of thinking which of the ideas they particularly like and how will they perform them in future. Hopefully, this will stimulate discussions on the possible future roles we can all play in the changing public administration framework. Need Assignment Help
