Marley James (3 years) is asthmatic and has an asthma management plan in place. Educator Dane, recognising the signs of asthma immediately, implements Marley's asthma management plan. Need Assignment Help?
Educator Dane speaks calmly to Marley. 'You're having an asthma attack Marley. Sit here with me and I'll give you your reliever. You need to do four puffs. Can you hold your spacer for me?'
Dane assists Marley, getting her to take four breaths between each puff. After four minutes there is no real change in Marley's condition. Dane follows the action plan and administers four more puffs of Marley's reliever medication. Marely begins to breathe normally.
Another educator, Lisa, has contacted Marely's father, who is on his way to collect her. Dane remains with Marely until Mr James arrives to collect her. Dane then completes the Incident, injury, trauma and illness record.
Later that day Marely's father calls Dane to let him know that Marely has seen her GP and has recommended that Marely remain at home for the remainder of the week.
