Problem 1. A single-storey factory is composed of a number of steel truss structures, as shown in the following figure. For all bars, area A=1000 mm2, E=200 GPa.

The maximum vertical load and horizontal load have been identified and shown in the figure. Under this loading condition, you are asked to determine the horizontal deflection of joint C.

Problem 2. You are asked to analyse a typical beam in "CADET" building, which is a continuous beam with three column supports. By idealising its supports, the beam is shown in the following figure. A is a fixed support; B and C are roller supports. EI is constant.

The maximum vertical load on each span has been identified and shown in the figure. Use the Force Method to compute all the support reactions for this beam.
