- The need for computer literacy has increased and is evident especially through:

- The rise of social media networks such as Facebook, Instagram, Pin Interest etc.
- With the advent of technology, it has expanded educational opportunities and has greatly enhanced the learning experience. For instance, the application of technology can be seen in the blended learning approach that Open Campus adopts. The blended learning approach offers at least 50% or more of the course content that is accessible online, together with partial face to face interaction and access to textbooks (Thurab- Nkhosi 2013).
