Your resume should be no more than two pages in length, should not include "I" statements, and should be free from errors.
Your cover letter should be no more than one page, formatted as a letter, and tailored to the position you have selected.
Include the following minimum elements in your assignment.
Position Description
- Provide the actual position description (not a web link) for which you are applying.
Cover Letter
- Contact information formatted as a letter.
- Appropriate salutation.
- Opening paragraph describing how you learned of the position and why you are interested.
- Paragraph summarizing your skills and why you are qualified for the position. Be sure to align your skills and qualifications to the position description.
- Closing paragraph describing your availability for the position and how you can be contacted.
Resume
- Contact information: Address, phone number, e-mail, etc.
- Objective: A short sentence describing your skills and your intent for the job search. Relate the objective to the position for which you are applying.
- Education: Educational degrees, including pursuit of your current degree.
- Experience: Work and other relevant experience to the position, including your current practicum experience, organization, title/position, and description of duties.
- Skills: Special skills and training that relate to the position.
- References: List of at least three individuals to serve as professional references. These can be work supervisors, teachers/professors, etc.
