Predict what the heart rate would be as a result

Problem

A. Homeostasis is critical to life. Imagine a hypothetical patient that has brain damage from stroke in the medulla oblongata, specifically in the region that controls heart rate. What outcome would you expect if this patient was to have a sudden drop in blood pressure?

B. Use the internet to read up on orthostatic hypotension. A patient with Addison's disease is seen in the ED. The patient has hyponatremia (sodium ion concentrations in the blood is too low). Not surprisingly, on exam, the patient is found to have orthostatic hypotension. Use the information that you learned in this lab to predict what the heart rate would be as a result and explain your answer.
