Physical evidence on scene

Assignment Task: Physical evidence on scene

As you learned last week, in the final project for this course you will organize and report on the crime scene investigation of a 3-D environment. To support you in preparation for that project, I have another hands-on practical exercise for you to complete in your own real environment.

The Assignment Process

As before, you will document and record your process and submit a brief reflection on the exercise. After submitting your work, you will be assigned a peer reviewer. In the peer review process, you will evaluate your classmate's process and gain additional insight through the comparison of their experiences with your own. This provides you with the opportunity to think critically about the decisions you'll make and report on in the final project.

Step 1: Prepare the Scene

Identify a location for your scene (a room in your home is recommended).

Select 2-3 objects from the list below.

  • beverage can or bottle
  • a wallet, credit card, or ID card
  • a common household tool or kitchen utensil
  • sunglasses, prescription glasses, or headphones
  • Distribute the objects you've chosen to document in your scene.
  • at least one object should be placed on a table or raised surface
  • at least one object should be placed on the floor
