Create a 300 to 500 word Persuasive-Informative Comparison and Contrast paper.

Follow the Steps to Writing above, and use the Outline provided. To make your comparison and contrast persuasive be sure you take sides. Let your investigation lead you to some preference of A over B.

Writing Task: Persuasive Comparison/Contrast

Your job is to pick two subjects, generate a list of qualities you look for in that general subject, then apply those qualities to your subjects. The slower and more methodically you go through this process, the more solid your conclusion will be. Remember, you are supposed to arrive at a preference of one over the other. Follow the Steps to Writing below.

Steps to Writing

Pick two specific subjects.

Think about their general subject (for example, automobiles, restaurants, teachers) and come up with the qualities you look for in that general subject.

You may come up with six or seven general qualities; if so, pick the best three to five qualities and use those.

Apply those general qualities to the two specific subjects.

Plug this raw material into the outline below.

For the purposes of this essay, I would like you to use the following outline.

Introduction: *Begin with a general look at the general subject ("Dining out at restaurants has become a way of life in busy American families.")

Focus on the specific subjects. ("In San Antonio, two very popular mid-range family restaurants are Denny's and Taco Cabana.")

Provide background; establish your authority over the subject. ("Denny's is a nationally franchised chain based primarily in the mid-west, while Taco Cabana is a homegrown, San Antonio-based chain.")

Discuss similarities. Do this in the intro section because the point of this paper is to arrive at a preference, which is the result of differences or contrasts.

End Intro with a map statement listing the 3 to 5 qualities you will discuss below. ("To understand my preference in these restaurants, we need to contrast their selection, price, freshness, and speed.")
