Assignment Task: The Business of Education
After you have watched College, Inc. You should consider the various effects of privatizing education. For your post, you should
1) Outline some of the negative effects of moving education from a public institution to a private for profit model.
2) With these negative effects in mind, why is it that we are continuing to move in this direction? Be sure to include a discussion of public policy decisions and the power dynamics at play.
3) Considering our previous discussions of inequality (class, race and/or gender) in Heiner and other materials, how can for-profit education reinforce inequality in America? What can we collectively do to change this?
