Nursing people-home demands level of responsibility

“Nursing People at Home demands a high level of responsibility and risk management – assessing complex needs, coordinating a wide range of services, working closely with other colleagues across health and social care, and in GP practices”

In an essay of 3000 words critically discuss this statement in relation to community nursing in Scotland.

So what are the key aspects of this essay question…well you can link the above quote directly to the module syllabus:

• it is about ‘nursing people at home’, so directly links with community nursing and the policy perspective
• responsibility is about accountability (professional NMC, legal and ethical issues)
• risk management and assessing complex needs is about assessment and decision making (strength based approach fits here too)
• a wide range of services links to the statutory and voluntory agencies so includes the 3rd sector visitors we are having in week 11
• Working closely with colleagues is about partnership working.

This means the essay needs to select some of the above issues (remember if you discuss everything your essay will be superficial and descriptive so you need to discuss about three or tow theme and offer an indepth and critical discussion in relation to community nursing. The perspective is Scotland as you will be drawing on Scottish policy.
