- input by reading a typed value from the user
- assignment to a variable
- output by printing to the screen what the user typed, then print your last name on the same line
- arithmetic (mathematics): calculate a value in code.
Print out both the expression that is calculated and the result.
So if your program computed 3*4 to produce 12, you would need to compute the result of 3*4 and also print which numbers are being multiplied in words
