Induce (using heat shock) the expression of mosaic patches in the eye disc that express a mutant BOSS protein that is missing five of its intramembrane alpha-helical domains. You collect the eye discs and immunolabel them with antibodies that recognize photoreceptor cells. Compare what you would see in the mutant mosaic patches with the surrounding normal tissue.
