1. Historically, writing for children was designed specifically to teach a relatively didactic manner. Modern literature for children however, has progresses beyond merely instruction to also include delight and entertainment. Use at least two works studied this semester to discuss how didacticism affect the quality of the writing.
2. Literature for children or young adults often portrays its main characters as heroes who challenge social, cultural, or parental norms. Compare the depiction of heroes from any two texts on the course. Ensure you demonstrate a clear link in the texts between characters' heroism and the norms being challenged.
