It is estimated that between 250 and 550 million cases of malaria occur in developing countries each year (World Health Organization, 2009). Of these cases one million die with 90% of the deaths occurring in children under the age of 5 years. If you calculate this, 2700 children die from malaria each day. How is this possible?
