mechanical stressing when a material undergoes a

Mechanical stressing: When a material undergoes a mechanical treatment, its resistivity changes due to mechanical distortion of the crystal structures. The localized strain produced in a material due to mechanical treatment interfaces in the electron movement and therefore, changes the resistivity of a material. Thus, hard drawn copper wires have a higher resistivity than annealed copper. Subsequently, annealing restores electrical conductivity by establishing greater regularity in crystal lattice.
