Many bike computers tell the ride what altitude they are at

1. Many bike computers tell the ride what altitude they are at and how the altitude is changing using a basic barometer and pressure differences. A biker rides on a hill and the computer reads barometric pressures of 475 mm Hg at the start and 530 mm Hg at the end. Assume the air density is 0.9 kg/m3 at the altitude the bike is at. (a) Did the biker go uphill or downhill? Why? (b) How high was the hill? (b) Did the rider go up a hill or down a hill? (c) What altitude did the biker start at?

2. The absolute pressure in a tank is 115 kPa. If the tank is sitting at sea level and manometer were used to measure the pressure what would the height of the liquid column in the manometer be if the fluid was (a) mercury (SG = 13.6) or (b) Water (SG = 1.0)?
