Universal Charity Workers (UCW) gives aid to refugees in war time.

Volunteer workers perform most tasks in the UCW. Volunteer’s name, address and telephone number are tracked. Each volunteer might be assigned to some tasks throughout the time that they are doing volunteer work, and some tasks need many volunteers. This is possible for a volunteer to be in the system devoid of having been assigned a task yet. It is possible to have tasks which no one has been assigned. When a volunteer is assigned to a task, the system must track the start time and end time of that assignment.

A) For each and every task, there is a task code, task description, task type and a task status. For illustration, there might be a task with task code “101,” description of “answer the telephone,” a type of “recurring,” and a status of “ongoing”. There could be other task with a code of “102,” description of “prepare 5000 frozen meals,” a type of “packing,” and a status of “open.”

B) For all the tasks of type “packing,” there is a packing list which specifies the contents of the packages. There are many distinct packing lists to produce different packages like basic medical packages, child-care packages, food packages and so on. Each packing list has a packing list ID number, packing list name and a packing list description, which explains the items which ideally go into making that type of package. Every packing task is related with only one packing list. A packing list might not be related with any tasks, or might be associated with many tasks. Tasks which are not packing tasks are not related with any packing list.

C) Packing tasks result in the creation of packages. Each individual package is tracked. Each package is assigned an ID number. The date the package was made, and total weight of the package is recorded. A given package is related with only one task. Some tasks (example: “answer the phones”) will not have produced any packages, while other tasks (example: “prepare 500 frozen meals”) will be related with many packages.

D) The packing list explains the ideal contents of each package, however it is not always possible to comprise the ideal number of each item. Thus, the actual items comprised in each package must be tracked. A package can contain many different items, and a given item can be used in many different packages.

E) For each item that the organization gives, there is an item ID number, item description, item value and item quantity on hand stored in the system. All along with tracking the actual items which are placed in each package, the quantity of each item placed in the package should be tracked too. For illustration, a packing list might state that basic medical packages should comprise 100 tents, 4 bottles of antiseptic and 4 cases of bandages. Though, because of the limited supply of items, a given package might include only 50 tents, 1 bottle of antiseptic and no bandages at all. The fact that this package comprises tents and antiseptic requires to be recorded all along with the quantity of each which is included. It is possible for the organization to have items donated which have not been included in any package yet, however every package will contain at least one item.

Note: Use Crow’s feet notation for the E-R diagram and you should include all attributes in your E-R model, primary key and foreign key must as well be identified correctly.
