This assignment has two parts:
Part 1: Look through the table of contents of the last 6 years of the Journal of Child Language or Child Development. Note the major research areas/themes (phonology, prosody, morphology, syntax, semantics, pragmatics, acquisition of words, bilingual development and issues, speech of mothers/fathers and child’s language development, etc.). Write a 1.5-page summary of your findings (based on the titles of the articles you find, what research trends did you find?). Your paper should be double-spaced with 1” margins. Points will be deducted if it’s longer than 1.5 pages.
Part 2: Choose a research article from The Journal of Child Language or Child Development written between 2007 and 2014. Do not choose a review article. Be sure to include the article’s complete citation in APA style (author, year, full article title, journal name, volume number, page numbers, publisher). Write a 1.5-page summary with a separate section with section heads for:
1. Major question(s)/statement
2. Data collection methodology
3. Subject population
4. Results
5. Conclusions
Be prepared to present your article summary to the class.
