Is it better to include a quote which is take out of context

Problem

My question is are quotations/evidence necessary for an argument? Slide 16 explains that one must use quotations which directly support one's argument. This week's article also states "Seeing research as a means for advancing a conversation makes the research process more real, especially if you recognize that you will need to support your claims with evidence" (Wardle. E). Is it better to include a quote which is taken out of context and the literature does not actually support the argument or not to have any evidence? Overall, is it more important to have false evidence or to make a claim without evidence?
