Mould in Carpet
Please provide professional advice in regards to what the correct and most accurate procedure would be to obtain muld samples from a carpet.
Recently a member of the public took a swab test of a carpet in a demonstration kitchen (however- the cooking section has tiles, the carpet is where the audience sit and observe) and discovered 2 cfu's of stachybotyrus. Is this of concern when that low a concentration is found and all other swab and R.C.S. (air monitoring) measurements results found no other contamination of mould? There may have been a leak in the past in the building a long time ago, but an thorough assessment of the building found no problems of mould. Therefore, there is no leak at the time of the mould sample.
Is a swab test thorough enough, would a tape sample be better?
Since there was no other indication of mould, shouldn't certain questions be asked regarding when the samples were taken?
Am I missing anything? Could the sample of stachy be a positive result due to some other factor? If there was a leak, and the swab sample did yield 2 CFU's, could this be indicative of the past leak, and easily cleaned?
If this is not a problem, how can I calm the people who work in this office?
