Internet screening and hiring employees

Assignment:

Potentially viable candidates may be overlooked due to a systematic impersonal screening process. The high tech low touch approach, as it is known, gets a lot of negative press as it were. My experiences have been more than positive both as a candidate and as a hiring manager.

At the higher levels of the organization the internet process works extremely well. The uneducated hard working blue collar fifty-something person looking for work may not be computer literate at this stage in the evolution of technology. They are at a total disadvantage. All employment offices now have computers available for job seekers and actually coach them in how to apply for jobs online.

Another potential downside of internet recruiting is the sheer volume of candidates available on the Web that meet the skills and qualifications required.

There are steps that have to be taken to facilitate the online recruiting process and make it easier and more efficient for both the job seeker and HR. The first step in the process is to have an approved job requisition. The current job description is then reviewed to ensure it accurately reflects the position requirements and qualifications.

  • What is the importance of this step? How is the job description used to facilitate the online recruiting process?

Your answer must be typed, double-spaced, Times New Roman font (size 12), one-inch margins on all sides, APA format.
