Integrated information system for project management purpose

Task: Integrated information system for project management purposes.

Discuss and explain the need for an integrated information system for project management purposes.

Integrated Information Services for project management purposes adheres to the concept of marrying project  processes using intelligent information system like project management tools and techniques.

Let assume, for example that , the project Management Team consist  of  Engineer and Facilities supervisor had a risk management problem in their departments or sections. They can integrated risk management into their roles and responsibilities through: the use of PMBOK  tools and techniques such Gantt Chart, Critical Path Method (CPM) and Project Evaluation Review Techniques (PERT), for risk  planning,  for risk assessing (identification and analyzing risk),  for risk developing handling strategies and for risks monitoring.

Also the  Engineer and Facilities supervisor should jointly use and share  the  integrated information system to deal with the following issues occurring in the project processes:

1). Failure of communication link between project team members. There should be upward communication between all interested members in order to again approval for the project to proceed.

2).  Timetable schedule too tight. The Engineer and Facilities supervisor and their teams had to use project time schedule such as  Gantt Chart, CPM, PERT, etc. for planning the project processes.

3).  Failure to produce the project requirements documentation to the suppliers on time. The Engineer and Facilities supervisor had to make sure that the staff assigned to this job produce this requirements documentation on time and sign off.

4).  Failure to calculate the cost of the project. Engineer and Facilities supervisor had to make sure that the total normal cost and the crashed cost of the project are well calculated before the start, by using the available project management tools.

5).  Project team members should be instructed on how to identify risk and the necessary action/measure taken to deal with it.

6).  Failure to review. Always make sure that you reviews the activity before they starts.

7).  Failure to identify the activities for the week. Engineer and Facilities supervisor should always try to identify the activity to be done for the week on time.

Therefore, an Integrated Information Services such as the use of PMBOK  tools and techniques should be jointly shared within departments or sections, so as to continouosly monitored and handled risk till the completion of the project , in order to make the project successful.
