In550 process of acculturation and immigration status

IN550 Process of Acculturation, Immigration and Refugee Status Assignment: NGO Policy Brief- The Chicago School of Professional Psychology

Assignment Information

The assignment of this class requires you to write a policy brief for a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that works with immigrants. This brief will provide the NGO with an overview of what should be considered in providing services to immigrants coming into the country. It will specifically consider how to understand cultural similarities and differences, human rights, intersectional identities, and how these can help make "real" the theories that explain the processes of acculturation, assimilation and adaptation.

The module assignments throughout this course should provide scaffolding for the content of the policy brief. The most efficient way to complete this assignment is to identify at the beginning of this class which NGO will receive your recommendations; from which country the migrants you are examining are from; and what you think should be considered to best help the migrants. Your contributions for module assignments can then be used to complete the signature assignment. For example, you may want to identify now that you are interested in migrants from Albania (sending country. You may identify a potential NGO for which you will write your recommendations. Your weekly assignments may need to be rewritten to accommodate the style of the policy brief, but most of your brief can be written throughout the term.
