Assignment Problem: Supply Chain Modeling Assignment

Part 1: Consider the Power Generation Problem in Maggioni and Wallace (2012), i.e. model (35)-(45). Questions / Tasks to complete:

(a) Create an Excel Spreadsheet for the input parameters (data).

(b) Implement the Expected Value Problem (EV) in one spreadsheet using OpenSolver.

(c) Implement the Stochastic Model (RP) using OpenSolver.

(d) Run the models and provide the objective function value and the value of all decision variables for EV and RP. You can compare parts of the solution with the corresponding table in Maggioni and Wallace (2012).

If you have a Mac and OpenSolver doesn't work, please use Excel Solver. However, the number of constraints is limited to 200. So you should reduce the number of nodes to, say 10 or 15 to make the model work.

Create a framework of no more than 5 categories to categorise robust supply chain modeling problems. You may borrow frameworks from the literature.

Using the scopus.com search engine, find 10 papers in the Operational Research / Management Science literature and classify the papers into your framework.

Explain in your search

- what papers have in common,

- where research gaps are,

- what trends in research exist (e.g. behavioural OR models), and

- whether the models have been used in practise (provide e.g. the names of companies).
