Illustrate caesars commentaries on his campaigns

Assignment task:

Caesar's commentaries on his campaigns in Gaul are something new. Darius, the Persian commander, and Alexander the Great had their achievements recorded by historians; Pompey has his written by an aid; other generals had written their autobiographies in retrospect; but no one had ever written a commentary on his campaigns, victories and defeats, as they were happening. What does this say about Caesar and, perhaps, by extension Rome herself?
