Reading specialists/Literacy Specialists play a vital role in developing, implementing, and evaluating literacy programs. Additionally, they must work collaboratively with teachers when working directly with students or serve as a source of support in professional development, planning, and providing instruction to students.
Imagine you are applying for a job as a reading specialist/literacy specialist at an elementary school. D. Describe one way you will solicit student and parent input and involvement when planning the literacy environment and instruction. How will their involvement support and encourage positive social interaction, active engagement, and self-motivation?
E. Discuss ways you will serve as an advocate for all students in the following areas:
a. Equitable literacy and language practices
b. Positive social interaction
c. Active engagement
d. Access to materials
e. Access to technology
