This reimbursement methodology, while similar in structure, is completely different from how Hospitals (...think, Part A; Inpatient; MS-DRGs; Technical Component; PPS) are reimbursed.

You will need to research what challenges/impacts/synergies occur as a result of difference. This may require the use of more than one article. Remember to always use scholarly articles and cite your sources in APA format.

It is best to use the IUPUI library to access google scholar to find scholarly articles that would be applicable for this assignment. Below I have provided instructions on how to access google scholar via the IUPUI library:

You can access google scholar via the IUPUI library at no cost. On that page you will see "what are you looking for?" Click on "Articles" and type in the search engine what you are looking for i.e. consumer informatics, and then click on the magnifying glass. This will take you to google scholar and it will list all the different articles related to the subject you are searching for. If you look to the right of this same screen, you will see "Find it at IUPUI" and this means you can access this article. Click on "Find it at IUPUI" and it will take you to a 360 Link where you will see the words links to content and you will click on the word "Journal". This will either take you to the article or several Journal articles related to your search topic. Also, if you come across an article that is of great interest to you that does not have "Find it at IUPUI" next to it, that means you do not have access to that article, but you could put in a request via inter-library loan to see if you can gain access. If you need additional assistance, please contact the IUPUI library at (317)274-0469 and they will walk you through the process.

The goal of this exercise is to ensure the student understands and is able to apply the information gathered from the articles chosen. Reading the details is easy - analyzing, synthesizing and applying the information to the Health Information Management role is where the process becomes more intuitive.

The articles should be summarized in four parts:

ISSUE: State the issue being described in the article.

METHODOLOGY: Identify the method suggested or used to address the issue described. How was the issue corrected? How should the problem be resolved? What is the industry best practice?

APPLICATION: how does the article apply to the Health Information Management professional? What should we be able to do with the information received? Is this an opportunity/awareness for HIM professionals? How does it impact our purpose?

SUMMARY: summarize the details, including any take-aways from the information you've read.

Formatting - the summary should be a minimum of 1 page in length (3 pages maximum). Please focus on not repeating the information within, but really identifying that you understood what you read.

Remember to include the title of your article in the header of your review so that I know what you'll be discussing also, be sure to include and cite your sources appropriately.
