Identify the important facts surrounding the case study

Assignment: Ethics Case Study

This assignment will assess competency 5: EVALUATE the role of ethics in the organization's performance.

In any good story there is some backstory (set up), characters, problem or conflict, and a decision that leads to consequences. A case study is just a story. Like stories, sometimes they have happy endings and sometimes they have sad endings. For graduate school, we usually use case studies without happy endings. Analyses of poor decisions or mistakes give students the opportunity to analyze a situation and provide better alternatives for the company.

Directions

READ the case study "Does it Matter How We Get There (Really)?" In your analysis:

• Identify the important facts surrounding the case study. This includes the key players involved in the scenario (this should be brief)

• Identify the key issue or what the case study is about (the problem or issue at hand)

• From your understanding of what you learned on the topic, provide some alternate courses of action (minimum of three) that the company could take to resolve that issue

• Evaluate each of these courses of action. In other words, a company could do A, B, or C. If they did A, this is how it would work and what would happen. If they chose B... (consequences of the actions)

• The final step is to recommend which of those courses of action the company should take and defend your answer

Consider the following in your paper:

1. A Code of Ethics that would cover this situation. What is included and excluded in the code?
2. As Jim Snelling, what would you have done? Why?
3. How should the involved employees be handled?
4. What other fallouts or repercussions can you see stemming from this case?

Your final submission will be 1000-1300 words long and needs to flow like a research paper. An abstract is not required. You are encouraged to use headings in the paper to separate the answers to the various questions, but do not just repeat the questions and give the answers. Do not include the instructions into your paper or it will inflate your similarity score.

A strategy is an action that a company takes to attain one or two goals. The task of analysing the organisational' external and internal environment then selecting an appropriate strategy is normally referred as strategy formulation Strategic implementation involves designing appropriate organisational structures and control system to put the organisation's chosen strategy into action. From mission and vision, strategic objectives are set resulting in corporate strategy from which operational strategy and functional strategy are developed and aligned to corporate strategy. Corporate strategy could be single industry hence single operational and functional strategy or corporate strategy could be for multiple industry hence there could multiple operational and functional strategy but aligned to corporate strategy. From strategy, plan are developed which are corporate plan, operational plan and functional plan. This is all part of strategy formulation.

Generic Change Model:-

An external change results in organisation post recognition initiating organisation change. The change involves steps of diagnosis of present and future, plan and prepare for implementation, initiate implementation and post implementation have a review. An example:-

An external change of retiring of operating system caused an organisational initiate organisational change for having new operating system used in their main centralised server carrying out organisation'scentralised system processing. Organisation post initiating had to diagnose present and future business requirement that is fitting to available operating system in market. Post diagnosis, planning and implementing the change in such a that there would be minimum disruption to business. Here the change is in centralised processing unit, the change would be in phased manner. A review system is required to review proper completion of each phase. This change is highly impactful hence required to have proper diagnosis, an efficient implementation plan and an effective review system.

Role of planning in change:-

Change at any point involves a high to moderate level risk which can be eliminated by efficient planning process. A plan helps to know the components that are being changed, the new component post changes, the time of carrying out changes, resources involved in making the change, review post change implementation as well as roll back steps if change implementation fails. An plan approval process helps to know the acknowledgement of change from process owners.

Strategy to overcome resistance to change are:-
