Part I: Recruitment and selection

One of the most important jobs as a cafe manager is to recruit and select the best employees.

First, you'll writ an employee ad for the position of Waitress. You also have to creat a set of questions that are important in the interview process to evaluate the candidates and have the minimum information necessary to select the best candidate or candidates for the waiter position.

A. Writ an ad to attract potential candidates for the job of a server. Keep the ad between 100-200 wrds long. Make sure it's suitable for print and online job listings.

B. Find and list at least three places where you can post your local job ad.

C. Once you have attracted a number of potential candidates, how would you decide which one to select for your cafeteria? Identify at least three qualities or qualifications that this potential employee must have and that you consider very important for candidates for the server position.

D. Write five questions that you could use for the job interview of potential candidates for the position of waiter.

Part II: Human capital management

The management of the human talent of your cafeteria is another important factor to achieve the commercial and business objectives. In the simulator, you decide how many employees to hire and how much is the compensation to pay them. These decisions affect customer service, employee turnover, and the cafeteria's financial results.

As we know, managers can serve customers, but you have to hire part-time servers to provide good customer service. Especially if the business operation is 16 hours a day (Monday to Friday).

Answer the following questions:

A. How many servers will you need to employ to have one server running at all times? Remember that servers work about 10 hours a week.

B. Suppose there are two servers and a manager on staff all day and the store is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. to 8 p.m. Calculate the daily service capacity if the average waiter can serve 15 cups of coffee in an hour and the manager can serve 4.

1. What factors will improve the productivity of employees in the business?

2. What could limit the service capacity of your cafeteria?

Part III: Training and development

The adequate training and development of the personnel that work in your business is important to achieve the objectives set during the planning process. That is why it is important to develop activities that promote the continuous development of staff.

For this part of the task, write a training program that includes the following aspects:

A. Identify several topics that you understand are important for the development of human resources.

B. Identify the goals you want to achieve with the training.

C. Make a proposal with the resources that will be necessary to carry out the activities (internal, external speaker, etc.)

D. Determine the modality in which the activity will be carried out (face-to-face, e-training, workshop, etc.)

E. Includes the budget items that you must consider for the development of the activity.
