1: Project Overview

Delta Pacific Company is founded in 1970 as a computer hardware product manufacturer. The company experiences problems that emanate from globalization which has harpooned a lot of companies in the west. First, globalization makes the company irrelevant because it cannot provide what the global market demands. Secondly, the second order changes, which entail re-engineering the services into consultancy from hardware, that happen within the organization as a result of countering globalization digs a grave and bury the hopes of the company completely. Lastly, the organization is declining as the management and stockholders are worried of the returns that do not show any hope of re-establishing. This paper is addressing the problems that come as a result of the changes which DPC make to contain the crisis of low globalization in the company.

Application of Fiedler’s Contingency Model

According to an article by Mind Tools (2003)… (Fiedler's Contingency Model, Matching Leadership Style to a Situation para 3) Fiedler’s Contingency Model created in 1960 by Fred Fiedler outlines that there is no specific leadership skill because leaders can only be effective leaders based on a situation, and this is the Model that fits me mostly. There are two concepts that the model reiterate: leadership style and situational control. To apply this model there are three steps that must be followed:
Identifying the Leadership Style-at this phase the management of DPC should identify the leadership style they have, whether it is authentic or relational. The leadership that DPC demonstrate is relational rich in empathy, emotional and social intelligence where leaders are so concerned about the employees and stakeholders.

Assess the Capacity of the Leader to command the team-DPC has to assess whether or not it is able to lead the employees or the employees are not happy about the leadership style. This step also goes deep into knowing the organization of the company if it is structured or non-structured. According to the case study, the leadership is poor for it is not building relations and the organization is structured. (Painter, 2014) cites that poor leadership skills are signs of failure in an organization.

Identify the best leadership skill-identify among Leader-Member Relations, Task Structure, and Leader's Position Power, which is the best leader. According to the case study, Task structure is the best leader for the company and must be utilized effectively.
