Discussion: Theoretical Approaches Used in Counselling
Identify and analyze the ethical, professional aspects of applying a counseling approach and the range of settings in which this can take place
o Describe in detail the main theoretical approaches used in counselling in the UK
o Employ evidence based reasoning to examine the efficacy of counselling including common factors
o Identify issues that might arise when working with a minority group eg gender, disability, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, class etc.
o Demonstrate and critique a range of skills appropriate to professional using a counselling approach.
o Demonstrate a degree of self-awareness and reflect on the factors involved in interpersonal communication
o Evidence the ability to use written communication clearly coherently and grammatically, within a given structure, using the standard referencing techniques of the discipline, demonstrating effective choice and organization of material, including electronic sources.
